Some celebrities are, shall we say, circumspect when it comes to their social media presence. For others, candor might well be the main attraction. Sylvester Stallone is firmly in the latter camp, and seems more than willing to share his thoughts on almost anything that crosses his mind — including, say, a new take on one of his best-known characters.
As a new article in The Hollywood Reporter revealed, Stallone recently took to social media to express his frustration with Irwin Winkler, one of the producers of the Rocky series, including Creed and Creed II. In a post on Instagram, Stallone posted a highly critical review of the memoir The Arrangement: A Love Story, written by Irwin’s son David.
“This unbearable worthless dreck was written by the painfully untalented David Winkler who is the son of the remarkably untalented and parasitical Producer of Rocky and Creed , Even though I barely ever saw him around in all those years, the one and only Irwin Winkler and wife Margot,” Stallone wrote.
Stallone went on to praise Winkler’s late producing partner, Robert Chartoff, who died in 2015. “If it wasn’t for Winkler there would’ve been at least another three Rocky’s , that would’ve been wonderful,” Stallone added.
As the Hollywood Reporter articles notes, Stallone followed that post up with another one, in which he provided more context about his conflict with Winkler. “I really would like have at least a little WHAT’s LEFT of my RIGHTS back,” Stallone wrote. This, in turn, begs the question: who owns what, when it comes to all things Rocky Balboa-related?
