This past Wednesday, Feb. 24, was Twin Peaks Day, the annual celebration by fans of the day Agent Dale Cooper first arrived in the town of Twin Peaks in 1989 on David Lynch’s beloved series. To mark the occasion this year, actor Kyle MacLachlan (who portrayed Cooper for three seasons as well as in the Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me movie) turned to TikTok to pay tribute to the show.
MacLachlan began by posting a TikTok in which he pans over some Twin Peaks merch while the show’s theme song plays. “Hmmm…one of these things might be from the Black Lodge,” he captioned the post.
He then spent the day duetting with Twin Peaks-inspired videos from fans, reacting to a cherry pie being baked while holding up a fork, sipping a cup of coffee while a fan lip-synched Cooper’s “damn fine cup of coffee” line, and stroking his face with paintbrushes while looking at a portrait of his character that one enthusiast showed off on the platform.
MacLachlan ended the day by putting out a call for more Twin Peaks TikToks, asking fans to “Tell me you’re a Twin Peaks fan without telling me you’re a Twin Peaks fan.”
“I’m challenging you to duet or stitch this video and use the hashtag #TwinPeaksDay so I can see your replies,” he wrote. “Maybe I’ll share yours soon!”
