For a few months, the pandemic managed to reign Mark Wahlberg in. The 49-year-old actor went viral for his outlandish “daily schedule” a few years back, which included a half-hour of golf every morning, a trip to to the cryotherapy chamber, and most notably, a 2:30 a.m. wake-up call. During the COVID era, as Wahlberg told Men’s Health in May, he started getting up closer to 9 a.m. But he admitted that he’d get “super disciplined again” once it was time to go back to work.

That time has definitely come. According to IMDb, Wahlberg is starring in a movie called The Six Billion Dollar Man, a sci-fi action flick based on the 1970s TV series The Six Million Dollar Man. It’s in pre-production, so he’s naturally back in the gym at 4 a.m., crushing workouts.

Still, one wellness practice that has lasted the entire year for Wahlberg is his new plant-based diet. At the beginning of 2020, Wahlberg did a bone broth fast, then went plant-based for a period that was supposed to last 12 days. But four months later, he still hadn’t touched a piece of meat. He started feeling more energetic for workouts than before — when he was eating seven to eight meals with protein a day — and shifted his protein intake to plant-based protein shakes, fish dishes and occasional faux burgers. The Impossible Burger is now featured at his family burger chain, Wahlburgers.

For the veggies out there looking for fresh breakfast ideas, here’s Mark’s, via Men’s Health: “[He eats] plant-based sausage with a sweet-potato patty and avocado, followed by three juice shots: greens, turmeric, and apple-cider vinegar with raw garlic and ginger.” You probably never thought you’d be taking plant-based tips from the executive producer of Entourage, but then, it’s 2020, and those who are fitness-obsessed, from professional athletes to Arnold Schwarzenegger, seem to find their way to the meatless life eventually.
