Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen is set to check into a federal lockup Monday, where he’ll join other high-profile inmates including Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Fyre Fest fraudster Billy McFarland.
Cohen will serve a three-year sentence at the medium-security facility in Otisville, NY for crimes related to campaign finance violations involving infamous hush-money payments on Trump’s behalf. The now-disbarred lawyer is currently the only person facing legal consequences for the crime involving payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, who both claim to have had affairs with the president.
The 53-year-old also pleaded guilty to charges of tax evasion and bank fraud, and will begin his sentence today after a two-month delay granted in February, the New York Post reported.
Located 70 miles outside of Manhattan, the Federal Correctional Facility Otisville has been ranked among Forbes’ “10 Cushiest Prisons in America.” According to the Post, Cohen will be housed in “dorm-like accommodations,” at the joint, where he will complete medical and mental health screenings and be assigned a menial job like mowing the grounds or emptying the trash.
“He’s going to what I like to refer to as ‘Jewish heaven,’” Larry Levine, founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants, told the Post, while Jack Donson, a former manager at the prison, called the facility “a great place for white-collar Jewish guys.”
The facility, which reportedly boasts a full-time rabbi and a plethora of Kosher dining options, is also where inmates/grifters Sorrentino and McFarland have allegedly formed a prison clique with Ryan Collins, the hacker behind 2014’s massive celebrity nudes leak.
Last month, Sorrentino’s former Jersey Shore castmates told Jenny McCarthy about the blossoming jailhouse friendship. “They play Scrabble together,” DJ Pauly D (or, Paul D. DelVecchio Jr.) told McCarthy on an episode of her SiriusXM radio show. Meanwhile, Nicole Polizzi, better known as Snooki, told Page Six her former costar was “having the time of his life” in jail, so Cohen would be wise to pull up a chair at the gang’s next Scrabble match.
