Former porn performer Mia Khalifa has been vocal about regrets she has from her brief but successful time in the industry, claiming to have only made $12,000 from her time as one of the top-searched performers on Pornhub and recently tweeting that her past videos “will haunt me until I die.”
In response to Khalifa’s claims, porn studio BangBros — with which Khalifa worked under contract in 2014 — has a set up a website dedicated to attacking the former performer’s claims about her experience in the industry.
“Although Mia makes many false statements, innuendos, and accusations, we have tried to stay silent and allow Mia to have her publicity stunt without responding,” the site states. “Mia has taken our silence as an ‘all clear’ to not only continue but ramp up her false statements. We therefore have no choice but to respond to the most glaring, objectively false statements. The following are facts over Mia’s fiction.”

The site features a list of Khalifa’s claims and the company’s counterclaims, such as the unsupported claim that Khalifa “received in excess of $178,000.00 from BangBros and its affiliated entities alone,” challenging Khalifa’s claim that she was severely underpaid during her time in the industry. The site includes video clips of Khalifa appearing to make statements contradicting her current stance to support some of its counterclaims, but according to BangBros, the clips were taken from “a live cam session tip show, where Mia was interacting with fans on Naked.com,” meaning Khalifa was still in the industry at the time they were recorded.
Late last month, BangBros also claimed to have filed a cease and desist against Khalifa. “Today we sent @MiaKhalifa a legal C&D demand which lists some of her defamatory, false statements about Bangbros over the years and a list stating the actual facts,” the company tweeted, along with the hashtag “#FactsBeatFiction.”

BangBros told Vice the company established the website “because it was not possible to publish the facts on Twitter or Instagram in an easy to read and understand format,” adding that external links on the site were kept to a minimum “since this is not intended as a marketing strategy—just an honest report of what’s been left out or previously misreported.”
While Khalifa has a right to share her lived experience as she sees fit, her vocal regret has received some criticism from others in the porn industry, as arguments that sex workers regret or are coerced into their work are often leveled by sex work abolitionists as an argument against the sex industry.
BangBros’ approach, however, is not productive for anyone involved, as the company’s attack represents a major organization launching a coordinated attack against an individual.
