As healthcare workers continue to put in long hours and risk their lives to help treat patients during the coronavirus pandemic, many people have shown their appreciation by donating meals to hospitals. Eminem is the latest celebrity to do so, and naturally, he opted to donate “Mom’s Spaghetti.”
The rapper (or more specifically, his Marshall Mathers Foundation) donated 400 servings of the spaghetti — which, of course, is a reference to a line in his 2002 hit “Lose Yourself” — to Detroit’s Henry Ford and Detroit Receiving hospitals. Each portion featured a “Mom” logo as well as a message that read, “Thank you frontline caregivers.”
The Henry Ford Health System snapped a photo of the spaghetti and shared it on their Instagram, writing, “Our #HealthcareHeroes ‘lost themselves’ in the delicious Mom’s Spaghetti donated by Detroit’s very own, @eminem. Thank you for providing a special meal for our team members!”
The spaghetti was cooked and prepared by Union Joints in Clarkston, a company Eminem previously partnered with to donate spaghetti at a pop-up shelter in December 2017.
Of course, the spaghetti referred to in “Lose Yourself” is actually vomit (“there’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti”), but this is still a nice gesture.
