Bruce Springsteen’s son Sam was among 15 new firefighters sworn in on Tuesday (Jan. 14) in Jersey City, New Jersey, and the Boss and his wife Patti Scialfa were on hand to support their youngest son on the big day.

Sam, 26, graduated from the Monmouth County Fire Academy in 2014 and worked as a volunteer firefighter at three different stations before being sworn in.

“It was a long road, he’s very dedicated, quite a few years and we are just excited for him today,” Bruce Springsteen told CBS about the ceremony.

Back in August, Scialfa posted congratulations to her son on Instagram for becoming a firefighter, writing, “You followed your dreams…love your brave heart.”

Springsteen and Scialfa posed for photos with their son at the event, along with their eldest son Evan.

The Jersey City Fire Department now includes 666 firefighters. According to Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the department responds to approximately 1,300 fires a year.
