Steve McQueen’s coolness extended to all aspects of his life, including where he lived — case in point, the actor’s former Malibu abode, which is now on the market for a cool $12.2 million. Nestled into the beachside, the home was built by McQueen in 1970 and, according to Robb Report, served as his and then-wife actress Ali McGraw’s primary residence from the mid-to late-1970s, a perfect locale for the surfer-dude disposition the actor was prone to.
The property has been renovated since the King of Cool’s tenure there, but still manages to capture his essence in the redesign, which remains sufficiently beachy yet offers an air of nonchalant cool. Located near the upscale Trancas shopping and dining center, the 3,307-square-foot property now boasts new flooring and an updated kitchen among other renovations, with increased access to the beach. Other notable features of the house include five bedrooms and five baths, private terraces and a downstairs den equipped with a minibar, porch and spa, so even if you’re not the biggest fan of McQueen, you’ll still be left impressed.
Check out the entirety of the property’s photos here — who knows, maybe you’ll even catch a glimpse of McQueen’s spirit. And even if you don’t have $12.2 million to expense your purchase of McQueen’s former abode, you can at the very least settle for a pair of Persol 714s.
