The last time Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan were on television, not everyone loved them.
In a stroke of spoofy genius, Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon — in character as local TV anchors Hosenback and Cattigan — covered the Rose Parade for Amazon. And while it was a most clever sendup of classic parade coverage, many viewers didn’t get the joke.
And now they’re back, and this time there’s no telling who they’ll fool.
Reuniting with Funny Or Die, Ferrell and Shannon have signed on to bring back “the broadcast legends” for live coverage of the nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Merkle for an HBO special called “The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish!” HBO says the duo will be joined by former SNL-er (and roving Rose Parade correspondent) Tim Meadows, as well as other guests.
“This wedding is going to be a blast,” says Cord in a press release, “there will be more luxury packed into that church than all the Bed, Bath & Beyonds combined.”
“The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish!” will air live on HBO on May 19th at 7:30 a.m. ET, followed by a replay later in the day. Check out the announcement below for further details.
