The Library of Congress has made its collection of over 276,000 documents from Theodore Roosevelt‘s life in public office available to the public.
Among the documents and photos that the Library has collected include scrapbooks, speeches, family records, Roosevelt’s first known usage of his famous “speak softly and carry a big stick” proverb and a campaign speech from his unsuccessful 1912 presidential run, The New York Times reported.
Most of the materials in the collection fall onto a timeline that spans from 1878 — when he was a student at Harvard — until the year of his death in 1919.
