Ever wanted your birthday party to last just a little bit longer? Well, this seaside town in the Netherlands has decided to really live it up for their 200th birthday this year, by throwing a party that will last, well, all year. Scheveningen started the year-long party off when about 10,000 people stripped down for the annual New Year’s Dive by swimming in the North Sea. The average temperature in January for the North Sea is about 43 degrees Fahrenheit.

There will be a number of other events to celebrate the historic beach resort. Rings Besides the Sea is a huge san art project, the San Sculpting World Championships will happen in June, the International Fireworks Festival will happen in August and the world’s biggest motocross beach race will happen in November. There is also a nine-month-long boat race that will hit Scheveningen in late June, as well as music festivals, opera performances and art exhibitions scattered throughout the year.
