Facebook’s CEO is growing his social network across the U.S., but there’s no friend request to accept in real life.
Mark Zuckerberg is on a nationwide tour to meet ordinary Americans he doesn’t typically cross paths with, as part of a “personal challenge” to better understand the country. But, don’t expect to learn much from the people he meets.
To meet the world’s fifth-richest man, there are a few rules people need to follow, according to the Wall Street Journal. To avoid chaos, these meetings are a complete surprise or done in secret if the word does in advance. The secrecy continues after the visit is over, too.
People are told not to quote Zuckerberg during these meetings later, and instead, refer inquistive reporters to his press team. Aides ensure no photos are taken by anyone other than his photographer. Though, there is one thing that’s allowed to slip. Zuckerberg tells his new friends to “make sure you tell [news reporters] I’m not running for president,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
