Rihanna’s billion-dollar Savage X Fenty lingerie brand has quickly established itself as one of the most inclusive names in lingerie, prioritizing diverse sizing and representation in its products and marketing. The antithesis of the Victoria’s Secret ethos of exclusivity, Savage X Fenty has proven itself a leader in a new era of lingerie by shining the spotlight on diverse bodies that have historically been given little time on the catwalk. From models in larger bodies to cancer survivors and pregnant people, Savage X Fenty has brought a wide range of historically marginalized bodies into the spotlight. Now, the brand is further expanding its commitment to body inclusivity with the introduction of its first little person ambassador, Tamera McLaughlin.
The 23-year-old influencer, also known as Thee Little Person, shared the news on Instagram late last month, introducing herself as “The first Little Person Ambassador” in the caption of a post featuring two shots from a sexy shoot in which McLaughlin can be seen lounging on a leather sofa in a black lingerie set surrounded by cash.
According to McLaughlin, her groundbreaking new role is both a dream come true, and also the result of her own manifestation. Savage X Fenty’s latest ambassador told BuzzFeed she had shared her dream of working with the brand with her manager, who helped devise a plan to get the lingerie company’s attention.
“A plan was discussed to order a lingerie set from Fenty, plan an exclusive photo shoot, and hopefully gain the attention of Savage X Fenty. The saying was, ‘Since they won’t come to me, I’ll go to them!’” McLaughlin told BuzzFeed.
By the time the lingerie shipped, however, McLaughlin had already managed to capture the brand’s attention. “The week my ordered lingerie shipped, I got an email and it mentioned that they had somehow seen one of my viral videos and Fenty was interested in bringing me aboard as an ambassador!” the model said. “Just that fast, it happened.”
McLaughlin joins a diverse cast of other Savage X Fenty ambassadors, including A-list celebrities like Megan Thee Stallion and Normani.
“My role as the first little person ambassador for the brand represents the idea of bringing awareness to self-love, loving the skin you’re in, and being courageous enough to go after the things your heart desires,” said McLaughlin. “My role represents the notion of leaving doubt and fear that you might not make the cut out of the equation and just walking into your destiny.”
