Major League Baseball players have had their fair share of weird injuries over the years.
John Smoltz injured himself ironing a shirt, Clay Buchholz got hurt by sleeping in a strange position and Rickey Henderson famously missed a game after getting frostbite … in August.
On Tuesday night, Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin joined that group of less-than-distinguished gentlemen by injuring himself while celebrating Toronto’s win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Even by baseball standards, the way Martin hurt himself is pretty embarrassing:
Russ Martin split open the pinky finger on his left hand giving a high five after the game. Got stitched up. Says he’s fine to play.

Still, at least he’ll be getting back out there, unlike Jeff Baker did after the same issue in 2013.
