There was a public outcry when Politicon announced that Milo Yiannopoulos was included in their 2018 lineup. Yiannopoulos lost his job and his book deal after appearing to defend pedophilia in YouTube videos. He was listed on the convention’s lineup as simply “Milo,” according to The Daily Beast. After both the outcry and fellow guest speaker, comedian Cameron Esposito withdrawing her appearance in outrage of the lineup, the event’s website no longer listed Yiannopoulos.

However, Yiannopoulos’ website continued to promote his scheduled appearance at the annual event. His website hosts an article that says “Milo Returns to Front Lines of Culture War at Politicon,” and within the piece it claims he “will separately host an intimate private dinner the night of his Politicon speech. Tickets are on sale for both Politicon and the private dinner on September 5.”
Yiannopoulos told The Daily Beast in an email: “I understand they had a four-hour meeting about it yesterday, the result of which was: I’m still booked.” But a Politicon spokesperson disagreed, saying, “No, none of that is true. He is no longer booked for Politicon.”
After the initial publishing of The Daily Beast story, Yiannopoulos told the news outlet, “This was news to us when your story came out. They just got around to telling my booking agent. Oh well!”
