Academy Award-winer Alicia Vikander is reinventing the “Tomb Raider” franchise on-screen. The second trailer for the forthcoming movie is based on the 2013 video game of the same name — and faithful followers of the franchise say Vikander’s take on Lara Croft is shaping up to be a different kind of good than Angelina Jolie’s in the 2001 movie.
“Unlike the old games that Angelina Jolie became the face of, the new Lara Croft is a more grounded character, acting more like a survivor than a badass with thigh holsters,” writes Inverse’s Eric Francisco. “The last trailer teased Vikander getting her guns, but hopefully the movie will show Croft actually earn her skills [rather] than start with them.”
