The National Archives Just Released 150 Historical GIFs. Save Them All.

By Kirk Miller

Nixon meeting Elvis. An extremely rare picture of Mark Twain just, you know, chilling. Um, Batgirl saving Batman and Robin.

All historic images (yes, even Batgirl — Yvonne Craig was a national treasure).

And now, all of these classic photos and videos are officially GIFs.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) — essentially, an agency charged with keeping records and images of historical value — just launched a channel on Giphy filled with historical photos and videos, making them perfect for embedding into your messaging and Slack endeavors.

Sadly, the images lack context outside of  their hashtags. And there are only about 150 of them available at present. That said … this GIF of Hemingway enjoying a drink is totally going to replace our usual DiCaprio toast.
