Another day, another new iPhone rumor. Word has already spread about the upcoming iPhone 11 and iPhoneXR2, and now it appears Apple has quietly confirmed a third new model as well.
As spotted Thursday by 9to5Mac, Apple has publicly filed model numbers for all three new iPhones, Forbes reported. Model numbers for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max and iPhone XR2 appear in the Eurasian database, an official regulatory body, under two distinct product lines, A21 and A22.
The A21 line includes the iPhone XR, which ships in three storage sizes, while the A22 line-up is comprised the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max, both of which are also available in three storage sizes.
As Forbes notes, Apple has yet to release launch names for the recently-filed models, so iPhone 11 and iPhone XR2 are simply placeholder names for the time being.
As with any new iPhone release, this one has sparked its share of controversy. Leaked iPhone 11 and iPhone XR2 designs have revealed some divisive new changes, as Forbes reported earlier this week. Some of the new features include updated rear camera designs and a new line of color options that Forbes called “dubious.”
The new phones will feature some less controversial updates as well, including reverse wireless charging and the Apple A13 chipset. Meanwhile, Forbes also predicted Apple will address the iPhone XS and XR battery scandal with bigger batteries in the new models.
