Amanda Lee is a 32-year-old Instagram star with more than 11.7 million followers, thanks to her extremely shapely backside. A personal trainer who also makes $20,000 per ad posted on the platform, Lee recently revealed to Cosmopolitan that being a social media star has serious downsides — ones that have made her think twice about what she’s posting.
“Once I got all the followers, I reevaluated things — like, is this really me?” she told Cosmo. “For my mental health, I don’t want to get so wrapped up in perfection. I want to be more confident in myself without trying so hard.”
Her feed wasn’t always full of seductive poses, either — most of the photos, by the way, are taken by her mom — originally, she’d been more fitness-focused than she is today.
“I always wanted to appeal to everyone,” she said, “but I got seduced by people’s responses and sidetracked trying to maintain this curvy physique and build a sexy brand.”
Her mother affirmed to Cosmo that the pressure to stay thin, perfect, sexy and always online weighs on her daughter.
“She still gets anxious,” she said of Lee. ”There’s a lot of pressure to keep up with daily posting and people tend to be critical of your looks. She gets overwhelmed. There’s a side of Amanda that no one sees.”
As a result, she told Cosmo she’ll likely start integrating more fitness into her posts, because she wants to have more “substance.”
