Failing to disclose your HIV-positive status to a partner isn’t just immoral and gross: it’s also illegal — at least in the State of California.
And California, of course, is where Charlie Sheen conducted most of his #winning, which is why the one-time star and upstart condom spokesman may be looking at the misdemeanor charges faced by “any person afflicted with any contagious, infectious, or communicable disease who willfully exposes him/herself to another person.”
In an interview this morning on Today, Sheen seemed to admit as much, telling host Matt Lauer that he “regrets not using a condom the one or two times when this whole thing happened.”
This is obviously a regrettable admission from anyone afflicted by the virus, but it’s compounded by Sheen’s recent debut as the spokesman for Swedish condom brand LELO, a move that drew immediate and widespread criticism from feminist bloggers and sex workers.
Moral of the story #1: Don’t admit to breaking the law on live television.
Moral of the story #2: Don’t be the worst person ever.
