The breaking news has been pretty rough for Fox News this week.
Aside from fresh sexual harassment allegations against former Fox chairman/CEO Roger Ailes, last Saturday, The New York Times published an investigative piece with this bombshell claim: $13 million in hush money had been paid to women over the years in response to harassment allegations levied against top-rated talkshow host Bill O’Reilly. (He has denied those charges.)
That has been followed up this week, reports the Times, by an exodus of top advertisers from The O’Reilly Factor—including Mercedes-Benz, BMW of North America, and Allstate—as the scandal deepens.
Per the story, the show rakes in 4 million viewers per night, and from 2014-16, generated nearly $450 million in advertising revenue. O’Reilly’s salary is about $18 million per year.
