Obama Just Opened the Floodgates on Cuban Cigars and Rum

On Friday, President Obama announced legislation aimed at solving one of the biggest foreign relations problems in the history of the United States: the dearth of Cuban cigars and rum in America.

In order to improve the state of trade and travel with the formerly embargoed nation and make the opening of Cuba “irreversible” by the time he leaves office, President Obama removed the restrictions on the amount of rum and cigars travelers can bring back to the United States.

Under the new rules, which go into effect Monday thanks to an executive action, travelers can purchase unlimited quantities of Cuban rum and cigars in any country where they’re sold as long as they’re for personal consumption. “You can now celebrate with Cuban rum and Cuban cigars,” said U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice. Cheers to that.

Unfortunately, the new regulations don’t apply to online sales, but hey, at least it’s a start.

Hope your mojito-making game is up to snuff.
