In former Saturday Night Live star Chris Kattan’s new memoir, Baby, Don’t Hurt Me, the comedian alleges that producer Lorne Michaels intimated to him that in order for his hit movie A Night At The Roxbury to be made, he had to sleep with its director.
In telling the story of how his film, co-starring another former SNL cast-mate, Will Ferrell, came to be, Kattan wrote that Michaels seemed unwilling to share the title of producer with Clueless director Amy Heckerling, who was, at the time, attached to the film, and suggested it might help convince her to only direct the film if he had sex with her, A.V. Club reported.

“Paramount would only do the movie if Amy signed on as director … If I wanted to make sure the movie happened, I had to keep Amy happy,” Kattan wrote while describing Michaels’ alleged outburst after Kattan first turned Heckerling down.
“Chris, I’m not saying you have to f-ck her, but it wouldn’t hurt,” Kattan claims Michaels said.
Kattan, who was 27 at the time, described the inner turmoil he felt about the pressure he received from Michaels to sleep with Heckerling, but wrote that they ultimately had a consensual intimate encounter.
“I was attracted to Amy,” Kattan wrote. “But at the same time very afraid of the power she and Lorne wielded over my career.”
