Chadwick Boseman recognizes that while it is great to celebrate super heroes, it is even better to pay respect to real-life heroes. That’s why he handed over his “Best Hero” award at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards to James Shaw Jr., the 29-year-old who disarmed the Waffle House shooter without being armed himself, likely saving many lives in the process.
This was an uplifting moment right when America really needed it. Chadwick Boseman gave the Best Hero Award he won for Black Panther to James Shaw Jr., the Waffle House shooting hero, who was in attendance at the #MTVAwards. Gotta love both of those dudes! pic.twitter.com/eXUcETakxx

Boseman asked Shaw to come up on stage with him.
“If you don’t know James Shaw Jr., he fought off a gunman in Antioch, Tennessee at a Waffle House. He saved lives,” said Boseman. He continued, saying, “So, this is gonna live at your house,” before proudly handing over his award to Shaw, who then gave the Wakanda salute. Its pretty clear that both men are worth celebrating.
