On this day in 1917, jazz legend and 14-time Grammy winner Ella Fitzgerald was born.

Over the course of her career, she recorded with many of the greats of her day—including Louis Armstrong. Their most notable collaboration was a compilation of songs from George Gershwin musical Porgy and Bess. Watch this live performance from 1968 of Fitzgerald doing “Summertime” from the album.
