Typically a charity event that’s only open to Hollywood insiders, The 24 Hour Plays is a theatrical fire drill of sorts.
A cadre of high-profile writers, directors and actors (Scarlett Johansson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jack Black, etc.) converge on NYC for a Friday evening brainstorm, after which the writers – presumably abetted by copious amounts of Adderall and Jack Black (same thing?) – stay up all night writing six scripts.
The actors return the next morning, rehearse for 12 straight hours and then take to the stage at 8 P.M.
Typically, average joes are relegated to the mezzanine. But CultureHorde has prime orchestra seats, and they’re letting a limited number of InsideHook readers get in on the action.
