I Am The Wallace

Carrots: not usually a dude’s first choice.

Unless you’re dining at The Wallace, a homestead of fresh, Cali-inspired eats tucked away on a Culver City side street, open now.

Cheffed by Michael Teich (a former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, actual fact), The Wallace is plating delectables like roast carrots in cumin, honey and soy.

So good, you’ll order seconds.

Teich also packs jars with bleu cheese and onion mousse, which you scoop with fresh-cut potato chips. And he cures a mean salmon belly.

For your main, get the beef cheek. It requires only a fork.

If you’re on a date, request a table in the back beneath the Edison globes hanging from the raftered ceiling.

And if you’re with a group, get a seat at the butcher’s block near the front.

For drinks, try a pistachio-foamed Early Ace gin, then grab a bottle of Loire Valley Sancerre for the table. And enjoy.

Nota bene: Centrally located, healthy and fast, The Wallace is the ideal spot for a lunch meeting. Lunch service begins on Monday. Here’s the menu, and here’s the new brunch menu.
