Waves of Hunger

Rosh Hashanah kicks off today.

Whether you’re one of The Chosen or just pretending to be to get ahead in the biz, it’s likely that you’ll be hosting friends and family sometime soon.

Do dinner right and hire a pro.

These pros: Kitchensurfing, a virtual Rolodex of seasoned chefs, now donning aprons in Los Angeles.

Started in NYC, Kitchensurfing connects off-duty pros with hosts – like you – by simply making their services available for house calls.

They’ve got 100 chefs signed up already, from restaurants like Cut, Animal and Providence.

You select the night, the number in your party and your budget. They’ll let you know who is available, then you pick the chef based on the cuisine you’d like served (from Thai to Italian).

Your chef will discuss any dietary restrictions. Rates are by the hour and include food, preparation, service and clean-up.

Like the NYC branch, they’ll partner with local kitchens for tasting events, and they’ll also offer cooking classes, which you can host in your home for friends.

That’s a new sort of party – one you can’t get at a restaurant.

L’chaim.
