Underground dinner clubs are a foodie’s fight club.
They tend to be cheffed by restless, knuckle-cracking toques, attended by adventurous food lovers and organized by that axiomatic first rule: you don’t talk about fight club, you Instagram it.
Here now for your secret supper pleasure: Dinner Lab, accepting very limited members.
The LA outpost of a New Orleans-based series, Dinner Lab brings emerging chefs and “curious strangers” to tables in off-the-grid locations.
Like deconsecrated churches, abandoned movie theatres and grain mills on the edge of town.
Always makeshift, often candlelit, never boring.
Membership includes access to dinners in all of their cities — N’Awlins, Chicago, more — for you and a date. Once the dinner is announced, you claim a ticket. Dinner Lab then discloses the address and details day-of.
The inaugural Los Angeles dinner is on November 16th. There’s a waitlist for membership, but they have limited spots available for InsideHook readers (click here).
Cheffing the LA launch: Francisco “Paco” Robert and Mario Rodriguez of Gramercy Tavern fame. They’ll be whipping up dishes from stints at their former restaurants, like lobster beignets with tarragon aioli and roasted duck with maitakes, Brussels sprouts and sunchoke purée.
