Every man needs a no-nonsense watering hole he can call home.
Add to that high-minded cocktails and righteous Cajun food, and it’s time to lay down some roots.
Here to raise the bar on the lowly dive: Analogue, the experimental cocktail bar and restaurant from Violet Hour pros Henry Prendergast and Robert Haynes, opening tonight in Logan Square.
Beneath the neon lights of the Milshire Hotel sign and hidden behind an unmarked storefront, Analogue looks bombed-out on the outside. But inside: a cozy spot where you’ll find offbeat cocktails, left-of-center tunes and a little dancing on the side.
Haynes and Prendergast have put together a solid beer list and rotating house cocktail menu. Our favorite: the Good Morning Captain, a wintry mix of Hamilton Jamaican gold rum, blackstrap molasses, tobacco and whole egg.
Also: Purls, a drink made by mixing beer with housemade bitters.
As for food, they’re serving up recipes inspired by New Orleans. We’re talking hog-head cheese, fried lake perch and roast beef and ham po’ boys.
Welcome home.
