Of all the phrases in the English language that can immediately capture our undivided attention, “slingshot” and “” fall in somewhere behind “bacon-wrapped” and “topless.”
So when we saw them combined into one perfect whole, we felt the need to share.
Produced by Mako Boardsports in the UK, the Slingshot Jetboard is a stand-up propelled by a water-cooled two-stroke engine capable of pushing it to a speed of 35 MPH. Modeled after a traditional shortboard, the Mako Slingshot’s exterior is crafted from herringbone carbon fiber, while its interior houses a 15-HP propulsion system cast in aluminum and chrome.
Built to appeal to “busy professionals whose leisure time is of inestimable value,” the Slingshot offers 40 minutes of full throttle riding and its 42-pound frame can support up to 220 pounds, with a push-button ignition and easy-to-operate throttle allowing it to handle like an Iverson.
“A Mako jetboard looks fast, feels fast and is balanced to give you exceptional cornering agility and outstanding control, both in a straight line and while carving through turns,” Mako says.
Made to order, the boards are priced at $9,800, and require a $1,180 deposit to start production.
