Governmental agencies aren’t the only entities looking to make a big investment in electric vehicles. It turns out rental car companies are as well, and it isn’t hard to see why. Between incentives extended to the buyers of electric vehicles and a growing interest in EVs in the general population, there are multiple reasons why it makes sense for rental companies to offer an electric option to prospective renters.

And now, Hertz just took a bit step in further normalizing that as an industry standard. According to Autoblog, Hertz has added the Tesla Model Y to its listings of available rentals. This follows Hertz’s massive order of 100,000 Model 3s and Model Ys made late last year.

According to Teslarati’s report on the Model Ys, we’re not quite at a point where you can head to your local Hertz outpost and board a Tesla-made SUV. Hertz told them that the Model Ys will be able to book beginning in late April of this year.

For drivers familiar with the time-honored ritual of refilling a car’s gas tank before returning it, Hertz’s website offers a guide to how to do so when driving an electric vehicle. They also request that you refill your rental’s battery to “at least 10%.”
