Some things are served quite well with an update — televisions, politics, fruit cake.

Others, well, if it ain’t broke, as they say. Those are the timeless icons of the world and Caterham falls easily within the boundaries of such legendary designs.

So while the auto world is in a tizzy to modernize rides, Caterham is celebrating its 60th birthday was a fine collection of Seven SuperSprints with the time-tested, classic livery and interior.

Following the release of the special edition Seven Sprint last year, the SuperSprint retains the vintage feel, but they’ve boosted ‘er with a little more power.

The ride will come in two variations — one a single and the other a double seater for sharing the joy with your better half.

Both joy rides are going to be equipped with a Brooklands-esque windshield, Scottish Muirhead leather upholstery, a wood-trimmed steering wheel and in six different period-appropriate polish options.

The three-cylinder engine is good for 95 ponies of power with a five-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential to maximize control over the zippiness. Tops out at 100 MPH, which is nothing to shrug at.

The SuperSprint is accessibly priced at $29,300. Maybe it seems like a hefty chunk for a weekender, but quality style always comes at a price. To boot, only 60 will be produced. And you can bet every penny of that $29k that they’re going to go fast.
