Danielle Braff

Danielle Braff is a freelancer for InsideHook, and has been writing about everything from parenting to food to law for 20 years. She grew up in New York City (yes, loved it! no, didn't get her driver's license until she moved to the Midwest). She moved to Chicago to attend graduate school at Medill. While in Chicago, she bumped into a high school classmate who was also a Midwest transplant — and they decided to get married, which ruined her plans of returning to NYC. After writing for a few newspapers in the Chicago area, she tried freelancing, mistakenly thinking that it would be easy to balance working from home and having a newborn (it wasn't). Danielle made it her goal to write for every major newspaper and glossy magazine, and she basically achieved that goal. She's penned stories about parents who let their children choose their own names; the spots to snag the best steak in the Midwest; and the reason why so many people have moved to Bonaire after visiting the place once. Danielle lives just outside Chicago with her husband, her two daughters, her two cats and her dog. If she had it her way, she'd acquire many more dogs and cats — and possibly a pig — but she doesn't always get her way.
