What you’re seeing is, unfortunately, not the new Bronco that will be on the market in 2020, although that release is hotly anticipated around these parts as well.

The upside: while those waiting for the 2020 drop have to do just that — wait — this one is ready to drive off the lot at present. Listed by our friends at Classic Car Club of Manhattan, this 1969 “Kubota Orange” Bronco is currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer.

The source of its power — besides the effortlessly cool summer vibes with which it was born? Its transplanted late-‘80s 5-liter Mustang V8. And that power is deliciously easy to harness thanks to another important upgrade, one of the best steering boxes for improved handling on muscle rides, a Saginaw 800.

Other improvements on the vintage beast: full coating in anti-rust treatment, a healthy suspension boost in order to fit a set of 33-inch BFGoodrich All Terrains on 15-inch wheels, and a roll cage.
