You’re never gonna get the bourbon, but a new collaboration between the iconic whiskey brand Old Rip Van Winkle and footwear gurus Wolverine offers up a handsome, booze-free alternative to owning a bottle of Pappy.
And that’d be a limited-edition pair of boots. The Wolverine 1000 Mile Old Rip Van Winkle boot is handcrafted in the U.S. and features boot heels made from the same American white oak barrels that Old Rip Van Winkle bourbon ages in for over a decade.
The boot itself is crafted from a whiskey-colored Horween Cavalier Squash leather with a double-needle-stitched cap toe design; each pair includes a hand-numbered textile tag.
According to the brand, the boots are actually moving quite quickly due to Mike Rowe’s Facebook reveal; before you get mad at the Dirty Jobs host, realize that 100% of the revenue for this collaboration is going to the mikeroweWORKS scholarship foundation, a “nonprofit on a mission to challenge the myths and misperceptions about the skilled trades and help close the skills gap.”
We’ll drink to that. But we, uh, probably won’t be drinking Pappy.
