Getting a bargain on any 65″ TV is nice. I have a mid-tier model from a reputable brand, and it does the job for the most part, but the screen washes away if there’s any daylight in the room, and the “smart TV” elements are maddeningly unresponsive and dumb.
The good news is there are also discounts to be had if you’re willing to jump up to a premium model that won’t have those issues. So while you might sense some sticker shock on the Sony TVs below, realize that they’re top of the line and discounted up to $800 for at least another month. Plus, I can safely say my 12-year old Bravia set (which is the Sony line below) was my favorite screen ever and still running well when I sold it last year to “upgrade.”
Sony A90J 55 Inch TV: BRAVIA XR
An OLED set that boasts intense contrast (pure blacks, high peak brightness, natural colors), Dolby Vision HDR, built-in Google TV and 4K upscaling, this is your movie or sports night television. Available in 55″ and 65″ — and there are several bundling options with soundbars that’ll get you an even larger discount.
Sony X90J 65 Inch TV: BRAVIA XR
If you’re more of the gaming type, you’ll prefer the X90J, an LED 4K smart set that’s built to be responsive, blur-free and featuring input lag as low as 8.5ms (there’s even a dedicated BRAVIA Game Mode to optimize performance). Again, you can find several screen sizes and bundles with soundbars, also on sale.
