Listen to TLC's New Single From Fifth and Final Album, 'Way Back'

If Queen Bey currently rules the pop palace, TLC reigned high in the ’90s—and helped influence their successor.

The girl group, featuring Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins (T), Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes (L), and Rozonda “Chili” Thomas (C), scored a string of No. 1 hit singles, including the ever-so-catchy “Creep,” karaoke staple “No Scrubs,” and their signature tune, “Waterfalls,” with an equally unforgettable music video (which landed the group a Video of the Year award from MTV, a first for an African-American group). When all was said and done, they ended up amassing five Grammys and sold 65 million records worldwide.

But at the height of the group’s fame in ’95, the members filed for bankruptcy. In-fighting among its members began making headlines in the following years. And everything ground to a halt in 2002, when Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was killed in a car crash. Although the group’s fourth album, 3D, performed incredibly well, garnering two Grammy noms, Lopes’ death basically spelled the end of the group.

That is, until now. A newly formed TLC, featuring the two surviving members, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund their “last and final album.” To date, it’s brought in $430,255. And now there’s music to show for it.
