Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of it. Today: Reigning Champ and Price team up for a formal training capsule, Sonic Lamb delivers body-quivering sound quality and Away drops their F.A.R (For Any Route) collection.
Bremont Waterman Apex Watch
It’s the return of the Waterman! Not Aquaman, mind you, as this Bremont watch is considerably more exciting than another superhero snoozefest. Back in 2018 the brand released a limited-edition dive watch with this moniker as part of their Supermarine line, and now four years later they’ve returned with the Waterman Apex, an even more limited (to 250 pieces) mechanical model that was tested by Laird Hamilton, the big wave surfer who knows a thing or two about water resistance.
Away F.A.R Outdoor Bags
Apparently the luggage brand Away was sick of being stuck on the tarmac while everyone else was gallivanting around the hills and dales. This week the company launched the F.A.R collection (“For All Routes”), a line of outdoor bags that includes all manner of pouches, cubes, totes, backpacks and duffles. And because they’re trying to cater to people who are less about airline lounges and more about drinking homemade kombucha while bouldering, they’ve branched out into eccentric colors like “Atomic Celery” (which could be a good name for a homemade kombucha…).
Rancourt & Co. David Coggins “Sawtooth” Shoe
Interested in cosplaying as an outdoorsy intellectual? Feel a special relationship to the Borromean rings of fly-fishing, Hemingway and (perhaps too much) whiskey? You’re in luck. The collaboration between author David Coggins and heritage retailers Rancourt & Co. is back for round two, this time with a Sawtooth Mountains-inspired, moccasin-style stomper with all the rugged fixing you could ask for. Each limited-edition pair is handcrafted in Lewiston, Maine, and built to withstand a lifetime of pursuits.
SKRT Hard Seltzer
Created by Post Malone and music industry veteran Dre London, SKRT is a line of bubbly hard seltzers available in grape, lemon-lime, peach and black cherry variations. Coming in at 5% ABV, we’re not quite sure what separates this from other ready-to-drink (RTD) cans — they say bigger flavor and fewer calories (100 per can) — but we’re just glad it’s not the new Vanilla Ice energy drink.
Reigning Champ x Prince Tennis Collection
Just in time for Wimbledon, Reigning Champ and Prince have teamed up for a capsule that’s a clear ace (despite adhering to the outdated all-white rules of the tennis tourney). A sartorial representation of both brands’ commitment to quality and simplicity, the 10-piece collection features tennis whites, accessories and, of course, co-branded racquets and balls.
Sonic Lamb Headphones
Here’s the pitch for this headphone brand you’ve never heard of: “Crafted for eargasm.” Sort of. Sonic Lamb’s upcoming release “reproduces sound using air and bone-body conduction to emulate a full range audio driver and subwoofer system,” which they says is for the first time ever in a headphone. Pre-orders now get you 34% off the final price.
Lululemon Hike
To say we’re stoked for Lululemon’s Hike line — the initial Day Tripper collection releases July 5 — would be a severe understatement. The 33-piece collection features a bevy of technical gear and apparel specially designed with the mantra “adaptable, stashable, convertible” in mind, including the wavy Convertible HR Hiking Jogger and perfectly sized LiftOS 25L Hiking Backpack. Good for half-hour hikes and multi-day expeditions alike, we cannot wait to stunt in the backcountry.
Mercado Famous Grain-Fed 100% Jamón Serrano
The top offering from fresh direct-to-consumer Spanish charcuterie purveyor Mercado Famous, this 15-pound centerpiece is 100% Serrano pig. Shipped whole (for free) so you can slice and dice it as desired at home, this hunk of ham has been cured for 24 months and packs enough pork to feed 40.
LifeStraw Peak Series Gravity Water Filter System
On the off chance you find yourself in dire need of some life-saving liquid, with nothing but a dirty pond teeming with God-knows-what to keep you alive, LifeStraw is a lifesaver. Even if you don’t count yourself as a Bear Grylls-level adventure enthusiast, the portable device protects against bacteria, parasites and microplastics. Packing one just in case is more than enough for some serious peace of mind.
GLCO x Daniel Shepard
Luxury eyewear maker Garrett Leight recently tapped Mexican graphic designer and illustrator Daniel Shepard for a wavy summer collaboration, and the result is a funky, trippy collaboration of fun (non-optical) items, including a relaxing beach chair, matching beach towel and a sick tote bag. But the highlight of the collection is undoubtedly the bright Igloo cooler. It’ll make you the coolest guy at any swimming hole.
Alpiner Comtesse Sport Quartz Rainbow Watch
The Comtesse label denotes Alpina’s women’s watches, so despite rainbow pieces being one of the ultimate wrist flexes, this one is designed specifically for the ladies. That said, this 36.5mm stainless steel sport watch, produced in a limited-edition of 288 pieces, is so slick that it’s worth a gander for all, regardless of gender.
