This NFL season, what’s more likely: you, getting in good enough shape to bench press Chris Berman, or the Giants, repeating as Super Bowl champs? Toss up?
The over-under actually says you, if you sign up for former NFL pro Curtis Williams’ boot camp, now accepting clients.
A former Ravens and Giants receiver, and currently NYU’s strength and conditioning director, Williams offers private, high-intensity cardio and strength training “based on the principles of football training at the elite level”.
Here’s how Williams works: He does an initial “movement assessment” to determine your flexibility / lack thereof, then personalizes a routine with resistance bands, TRX, kettlebells, and medicine balls to build power, speed, and core strength. Williams works out his clients at Velocity Sports Performance, or can come to you if your gym is properly equipped.
He also offers group Training C.A.M.P. classes on Thursday evenings in Central Park, each of which begin with “dynamic flexibility” and a short run. Williams then incorporates body weight exercises, speed and agility drills (think foot patterns through a training ladder), and explosive plyometric exercises like springs and squats.
And because garbage in equals garbage out, Williams works with a licensed nutritionist to create nutritional programs to increase recovery time and maximize performance.
Or just maximize your non-Chris Berman-ness.
