Filmmaker, meditation guru, painter, coffee roaster.
Just a few of polymath David Lynch’s many vocations.
Turns out he’s also a rather adept and unusual erotic photographer.
New from the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris, David Lynch, Nudes features more than 100 photos (black-and-white and color) of feminine nudes. Sensual? Sure. But also rather abstract and certainly inspired by film noir — lots of shadows, canted close-ups and cigarette smoke here.
Why nudes? Here, Lynch is far less mysterious. In a press release, the director notes, “I like to photograph naked women … It is amazing and magic to see how different [they] are.”
Well, yeah.
David Lynch, Nudes is out now, though the publisher says, “due to a large number of orders, some shipments may be delayed.”
