An eerie, abandoned Soviet Union hangar for submarines has just surfaced.
A group of four amateur photographers from Vladivostok, Russia, stumbled on the submarine base in Pavlovsk, in a quest to document abandoned and historic buildings.
The photographers said the government started to dig out the network of tunnels, reinforced to be nuclear-resistant, in the late 60s, during the height of the Cold War. But arms limitation agreements with the U.S. forced the project to be halted before completion.
But not before leaving some stunning remnants of a different era.
“The hide is enormous but it’s really hard to evaluate the real sizes as some tunnels are under water and we don’t know where they go to,” one of the photographers told Caters News.
