Until recently, the only real cure for baldness was a good hat.
But the future looks brighter — and we don’t mean that shiny spot where your hair used to be.
Shampoos are being made to to enhance hair growth. Robots are being developed that use your own blood to regenerate dead follicles.
And then there’s the Barber Surgeon’s Guild, a new spot in West Hollywood wedding old-world barber tactics with plastic surgery to create a one-stop-shop for all things cosmetic, from tattoo removal to hair growth to premium in-house products.
The shop itself is straight out of Boardwalk Empire, tucked away on a quiet side street with tons of old-world ephemera and vintage chairs.
But in the back, state-of-the-art machines are dedicated to platelet-rich plasma transplants, skin sculpting, hair and tattoo removal. It’s all overseen by Dr. Justin Rome, who can assist in turning back your bio-clock. And they’ll soon offer a line of haircare products made in the U.S. with natural ingredients that support hair growth.
Once it’s growing again, you can head back out front, where master barbers like Brandon Barney help you reset your day with a hot towel around the face, a neck massage and personalized grooming routines.
Like all decent retail establishments these days, they offer refreshments (nitro cold brew, draft beer and the hard stuff), and there’s a hidden TV behind the bookshelf for game days.
Hats off to them.
