These 7 Boats Are Scrubbed and Ready to Board, Captain

Boatsetter’s pier-to-pier NYC fleet just got some serious upgr

Best part about having a friend with a boat? You don’t own that boat.

For everyone else, there’s Boatsetter, a peer-to-pier rental service that brings you aboard sans the obligations, including being nice to smug, boat-owning buddies. (Unless you are that friend, in which case Boatsetter also has a platform for listing your boat.)

Either way, the process is about as simple as she gets. Just sign up, search for a boat and contact the owner to schedule. Insurance from bow to stern is already worked into the package, as well as 24-hour on-water customer service/emergency support.

And thanks to the recent acquisition of Boatbound — their biggest rival — Boatsetter’s fleet is now more impressive than ever.

To get those sea legs itching, we’ve rounded up seven of their choicest rigs for you to choose from this fall, from Paul Allen-sized yachts to a charming sunset schooner for six.

Captains included. Hassles left behind.

Emma Rose
Leaves from New York, NY, $450/half day
To hell with tourist cruises. Next time you have family in town, this 25-foot Dufour 1800 has all the makings for a swell day out on the Hudson. She’s complete with cooking gear, a cabin and room for five.

Sea and the City
Leaves from New York, NY, $700/half day
Another 25-footer, but handsome as ever. With room for six aboard, you’ll be taking in the skyline from the water with the conveniences of A/C, a refrigerator, freezer and a freshwater washdown should you need to de-salt.

Tara
Leaves from New York, NY, $1,200/half day
This 1970 Hinckley 38 is 35-feet of grace, solid for up to six passengers and complete with a cabin and fresh water washdown.

Al Vento Nyack
Leaves from Nyack, NY, $1,800/half day
But if the Tara feels too provincial, perhaps the Al Vento is more your style. She fits 12 passengers and sleeps 8. A 54-foot superb cruising yacht, the Oceanis 54 has a refrigerator and freezer, air conditioning, a freshwater wash down and an optional private chef and service crew should the affair call for something a little more special.

Mis Moondance
Leaves from Jersey City, NJ, $4,250/half day
A magnificently restored 81-foot yacht with four state rooms and four full bathrooms. She holds up to 12 passengers and sleeps six lucky guests. Onboard she’s fitted with two sun decks, two bars, a BBQ grill and comes with optional dining packages at an additional cost.

Silver Mama
Leaves from Stamford, CT, $5,000/half day
This just looks like a one-way street to a perfect day. The 92-foot vessel holds 13 and sleeps 8 with an open plan with formal dining on the port side complete with sofa and starboard. Dine al fresco, launch off the diving platform, chill in the entertainment space with air-conditioning. Not a shabby way to spend the afternoon.

Mariner III
Leaves from New York, NY, $5,250/half day
Pretend you’re a celebrity for the day like so. This 122-foot yacht holds up to 90 passengers and sleeps 14 guests. So start picking straws now. The luxury vessel is opulence at sea with varnished teak, gleaming brass and beveled lead crystal windows a la Paris. Gourmet dining option available at an additional cost. Please invite us.
