But since not even the most rambling man wants to take heel and toe to the Interstate, Backpacker Magazine made the The Long Trails Map, a compendium of 42 American trails with a distance greater than 129 miles. Some of these trails — the Cumberland Trail, the New England Trail, The Continental Divide Trail — span states. At least one — The American Discovery Trail, at 6,800 miles — goes coast to coast.
That’s a lot of trail mix.
