Why does the Fast & Furious franchise have such staying power? You could say it’s the diverse and lovable cast or fine-tuned combination of action-movie elements. I say, it’s because within the first three minutes of the original film they drove a car underneath a semi.

Only later did I realize this is completely unrealistic, and a real car could never fit underneath a vehicle like that.

Then today, we came across the Volkner Mobil: a German-made motorhome that swaps the traditional luggage undercarriage for a garage that holds your sports car. Praise be.

Instead of towing your BMW or Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing (pictured below) like a complete and utter plebe, a hydraulic lift will cradle your dainty speed demon and tuck it in between the axles — you’re in charge of kissing it goodnight before locking it in and hitting the road.

Volkner has been in the vehicle-within-a-vehicle motorhome business for a while, introducing the Performance S model in 2006 and exhibiting upgraded models annually at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf trade show. They’ve also introduced a Performance Perfection model that’ll hold a Mini-Cooper or Fiat 500.

When New Atlas checked out the latest model at this year’s Caravan Salon, the Volkner Mobil Performance S beat out everyone else in terms of price: €1.47 million (or about $1.7 million), though the base price starts at $1.2M.

The publication justifies this by noting it’s “a 454-hp (339-kW) live-in bus with five separate heaters, air conditioning, 1,800 watts of solar power feeding a 1,800-Ah battery bank, an induction cooktop, oven, dishwasher, Dolby surround sound system, super-roomy floor plan opened up by that large wall-out, and plenty of other comforts and technologies you wouldn’t expect to find anywhere outside of a sprawling home.”
