The goal of large-format RVs and trailers has remained remarkably consistent over the decades: jam as much usable floorspace into as small a vessel as possible.
And if it’s a competition, we may very well have a winner.
Designed by the New Zealand architectural firm W2, the party-ready Romotow takes a decided lefthand turn from traditionally boxy caravans. The oblong living area of the trailer (which features a full carbon chassis) actually swings out and to the side of the exterior on a swivel at the push of a button, which gives travelers/dwellers a full deck — and 70% more square footage.
Overall, the Space Age-y caravan, which was originally announced all the way back in 2012 but is just now moving toward production, features 290 square feet of living space, divided among a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom.
The extensible deck is lined with synthetic teak — more commonly associated with superyacht construction for its natural waterproofing prowess — and comes with a fold-down BBQ. According to Curbed, a deck enclosure kit will allow you to sleep four additional people outside, along with four inside.
