United to Flyers: Please Love Us Again, Here’s Some Money

Nothing says 'we screwed up' like discount fares to Europe

April 27, 2017 9:00 am

Baby, United knows it screwed up, and good.

But it’s willing to buy back your affection. On super-sale today: fares to Europe from the U.S. Think: New York to Paris for about $400 round-trip (it’s usually twice that), with similar bargains to the Caribbean and Central America.

Get ’em before the period of public contrition ends. Just don’t bring your rabbit

Unless, of course, you’re looking for an elevated flight experience — in which case, you might want to consider Southwest, which today announced an end to overbooked flights. (We reiterate that the problem with the infamous United flight was not overbooking, but a series of terrible decisions by nearly everyone in positions of authority.) Personally, we like overbooked flights — how else to pick up a few hundred dollars at the airport? But if you want to minimize interruption to your travel plans, might be worth a look.
