The guest host era of Jeopardy! is set to continue through the end of the year, with a new twist: Ken Jennings is now back in the mix. According to a new report from Vulture, Jennings and Mayim Bialik will host episodes of the game show through the end of the year following the departure of Mike Richards.
Vulture’s article offers a few more specifics on how that will work. From September 20 through November 5, viewers will see Bialik-hosted episodes, and the duo will split hosting duties from that point through the end of the year.
As for what that means in terms of the next permanent host of the show…well, that still remains to be seen. One of the guest hosts who appeared on the show earlier this year has taken themselves out of the running, however — LeVar Burton recently told Trevor Noah that he’s looking for something different, according to a report at Variety. “[W]hat I found out is that it wasn’t the thing that I wanted after all,” Burton said in response to his guest-hosting tenure.
“We’re trying to figure out what the right game show for LeVar Burton would be,” he added.
As interesting as the game show landscape of 2021 has been, it seems like the year to come might be just as complex — and might involve some big changes on the way.
