Every man is a watch man, but not every man is a watch man. But being oblivious to the ins-and-outs of timekeeping is no excuse to leave your wrist naked.
Thankfully, Singapore-based Plain Supplies has a way out for those clueless about chronographs: the Everyday Watch. Currently funding on Kickstarter, this simple timepiece eschews the mechanical intricacies and luxury materials horologists crave. What’s left is a bare bones sophistication that will feel equally appropriate at a movie theater as a black-tie benefit for the theatre.
Customers can choose Gunmetal or Rose Gold for the 40mm stainless steel case which holds a Japanese-made GL15 Miyota quartz movement. But the real versatility comes by way of three interchangeable straps included with every purchase: mesh stainless steel, cow leather and nylon NATO.
Although their strap quick release system is commendable, interchangeable bands aren’t exactly revolutionary. But at $60 a pop, you’d be hard-pressed to find a watch that will match this for economy and universality.
So you won’t be passing this one down for generations, but no one has to know that.
